// Speaking of comics, loved Nicky's post about Minutes to Midnight - Twelve Essays on Watchmen! Watchmen was my first real exposure to comics, and I have been meaning to re-read it... this makes a perfect addition to that reading!
// The always-lovely Gala Darling's list of 100 Things To Do Instead Of Procrastinating On The Internet. Some of these I'll never, ever do (#6, #27, #41 I don't even know what that is, #68...) but 99% of it is golden. Go do some of 'em!
// Malachite has to be the most badass mineral ever. Look! It doesn't look remotely eartly:

// You've heard me talk about Diablo 3, yes? There's a mode where, if you die, you're dead for good, start from level 1, done for, wiped out (a.k.a. perma-death). They call it Hardcore mode, because really, it is. Here's a fun collection of Harcore Mode Deaths with some pretty hilarious reactions from the players... and commentary from the Prince of Darkness himself.
// Remember last week when I mentioned free, online Coding classes? Well, Jordan shared with me Duolingo -- free, online language classes! With a social sharing aspect (badges, friendly and healthy competition to see who's getting through lessons and levelling up quicker), it's a blast. It only offers Spanish, German and a French beta right now, but that's more than enough! Get bilingual, y'all!
// I got 10 out of 12 right on the Lady Gaga or Jem? quiz at Mental Floss. It's truly, truly truly outrageous. How did you do?
// Love this DIY Rotating Goal List from Rachel!
// Lastly, and most excitedly...
It's mine it's mine it's miiiiine!

Did you know I'm a huge Android nerd? I go cuckoo over new, pretty tech -- especially those uber-customizable, shiny, fancypants Android devices. Like, beaming as it's unboxed, squealing as I leave the store, can't put it down all day, gonna rattle off specs and show you how rad it is it's got 16gb of on-board storage AND 50 free gigs for Dropbox isn't that AWESOME? kind of cuckoo.
(I never said I wasn't also a little weird...)
Anyway, bet your butts you'll be reading more about it once I've had it for a few days. :)
Today is a trip to IKEA with Jordan & Jimmy,
and lots of NYPD Blue. Life is awesome.
Have a great weekend!!

The Duolingo link is so awesome. Thanks for sharing!

You're very welcome! Have fun :)
DeleteYAY ANDROID PHONES!!! I'm assuming it's equipped with Ice Cream Sammich? :3
ReplyDeleteI started using Duolingo to learn German but I've been bad and haven't been keeping up with my lessons. I can't wait until they add Hebrew. It's what I'd really like to get back to knowing.
Ooh, do they have plans to add Hebrew? That would be incredible! I've only done the first lesson or so due to time, but Jordan has been killin' it with the Spanish lessons. :)
DeleteAnd you bet it's got Ice Cream Sandwich! It's an amaaazing upgrade from Gingerbread -- it looks insanely different, the UI is gorgeous, and I feel like it's functionality doubled. I may or may not be drooling right now. (And of course, it's been leaked that Jellybean is on it's way -- I can't wait for that either!!)
Oooh very cool links. I'm waiting till after my last day at work before diving into that coding link you shared last week--and now knowing I have a fun way to pick French back up is very exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them!! I'll probably be diving into Codecademy a lot this week, as 95% of my office are out of town for a conference and I'd rather be doing something productive instead of watching Netflix at my desk. ;)
DeleteI love knowing that these links are proving useful for someone other than myself!
So jelly of your new phone! Mine still flips open. =[
ReplyDeleteWow! I know a few people who haven't jumped on the smartphone ship, so you're not alone. :) It's certainly not cheap, but really, I can't imagine my life without one at this point. I'm sure I could get by if I had to, but the convenience is just impossible to deny.
DeleteI've tried keeping handheld day planners in the past, but they're heavy and don't make noise when I have to get ready to be somewhere or do something, so they end up left at home and collecting dust.
I am certainly a product of my generation.
Looking forward to checking out Duolingo! And malachite? That's seriously how it looks -- crazy! (my only reference for it is Sailor Moon xD)
ReplyDeleteOh my god, Sailor Moon! Me and my friends in junior high were crazy about Sailor Moon. I was the Sailor Mars of the group... guess I was kinda dark and twisty. ;)
DeleteThere was recently a Sailor Moon-related t-shirt on one of those 24-hour t-shirt sites that I almost bought because it was so neat. It was an old-school Le Chat Noir poster with Luna on it. It was really cool!
