30 Days of Lists, week 3

Finished another week of 30 Days of Lists!  This week was particularly difficult, considering I've been suffering through a pretty rough cold and felt like doing a whole lotta nothin'... but I still kept up and I'm proud!

Day 15: "I Know I Am Young At Heart When..."  I fucking love the toy aisle at Target.   A lot of time there is spent jealous of all the sweet toys kids have nowadays (legit spy gear?  Like INFRARED GOGGLES?  I was lucky to find a pair of binoculars at the dollar store during my I-Wanna-Be-Harriet-The-Spy phase!) but it never ceases to amuse me.  I am also collecting all the books from my childhood that I love, and I get weird if I am sitting still too long.

Day 16:  "Things I Would Like To Learn."  One day, I'mma get my hands on a Canon AE-1 and some film and I'm going to teach myself how to shoot manual.  I want to keep film alive in this day and age of digital everything... also I want to have about 50 different careers, so this list is insanely short.

Day 17: "Excuses."  The Big Four:  "I'm Tired," "I Overslept," "I'm Undercaffeinated," "I'm Overcaffeinated."  They work for almost every occasion in which I need an excuse... unless you're Jordan and you see right through them just to say "Kayla, you're none of those things, you're just an odd duck" and really, he's usually right.

Day 18:  "Favorite Names."  This was a hard one, but it was probably because my head felt just a millimeter away from bursting like a balloon in a firework of phlegm.

Day 19: "Events I Would Like To Attend."  I've never been to SDCC... also, Jordan and I watched this documentary narrated by David Attenborough that was so awesome about wolves, and apparently some place in Australia has an annual event where people drive from all over and they ignite a chorus of wolves howling from the wilderness and I absolutely want to do that one day.  (And the Northern Lights and a Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion, obviously.)

Day 20: "Fictional Friends."  I like to think that Weetzie Bat and I could be besties, or Death from Sandman and I.  If not, I could hang out with Tali and drink (well, juice for me) from an Emergency Induction Port, or go lend a hand on the Engineering deck with Data and Geordi.

Day 21:  "Everything I Bought This Week."  I forgot to include train fare.  Fun fact -- I apparently bought so many sweaters at Forever 21 that my bank thought someone had stolen my debit card and took it upon themselves to mail me a new one.  I guess I've never spent $100 on sweaters before.

Are you participants still keeping up with 30 Days of Lists?  And is there anyone who's excited for the next iteration of it in Spring?  I hope so!  It's been a lot of fun!  :)

  1. I totally went through a Harriet the Spy phase. I even had a little spy kit that my friend Kristen and I made. So awesome! But yeah, kids toys are pretty amazing these days. Kids shows, on the other hand, suck. We need to bring back Darkwing Duck and Teddy Ruxpin. You know, the classics. :)

I wanna spend $100 on sweaters too!! The closest Forever 21 is in Edmonton, I think. (4 hour drive) The problem there is, it will be in the biggest mall of all time and just the thought of being in there makes me anxious and slightly frantic. Ick!

I hope you're feeling better, friend.

OH! And I love the new blog header. :)

    1. Seriously! Kids shows are pretty awful. I kinda just want to punch Caillou in the face. And by "kinda" I mean "totally." We did have it better in that regard, I suppose!

I don't blame you. The closest Forever 21 here is in this huge, crowded San Francisco shopping district and it nearly sent me into an agoraphobic fit. But how can you not brave it and stock up when they have the comfiest sweaters for under $15?!

Thank you and thank you again. :] I sound kind of like an old cowboy with my sore throat today but at least I'm not slingin' snot everywhere anymore. Should be good as new by tomorrow. ;)
