Let the picture-heavy last-week-plus-two-days wrap-up of the September 2012 edition of 30 Days of Lists begin!
Day 22: "My Favorite Photos of Myself." This was probably my favorite of the whole month... I printed out pictures of myself I liked or that held a special place in my heart, mounted them on some cardboard, wrote little captions and titles on the back and tucked them away into an envelope in my book.
Day 23: "Current Favorites." This was the only one where I incorporated one of my wrecked Polaroid photos and decided to roll with the yellow color scheme of that strange block (the result of accidentally pulling out two exposures!). Most of my life was spent hating yellow and orange... the season for that has passed!
Day 24: "Yesterday Was..." Boy was I snotty this day. That head cold sure was a rough one... but I loved documenting my day in highlights and bullet points and little fragments and pieces.
Day 25: "Where I Have Lived." Remember that thing I said up there about skipping two days, and some of these lists being done while grossly sick and photographed poorly? When I wrote that, I was thinking of this list and the next list specifically. I really wanted this idea to work, and for the most part it did, except some parts it was poorly executed and I spelled one of my cities' names wrong. *facepalm*
Day 26: "Trends I Cannot Stand." I wish this were a list on pretty much any other day, because boy, can I get ranty and real about stupid trends. I feel like my distaste for stupid trends is not accurately portrayed in this list... but I hit on some big ones, which is good. If you ever say "sunnies" or "color story" around me I might hit you. Also I don't really care about your nails, and those shorts look stupid.
Day 27: "The Bravest Things I Have Ever Done." This is probably favorite #2, not due so much for design, but for the honesty. All of those things are true. And I would do any of them again in a heartbeat, because they have made me the person I am today. Except maybe I won't jump out of another airplane, once was kind of enough and I have way more things to live for now.
Day 28: "Little Joys In My Life." I'm a big ol' sucker for Target, for stretching and yawning cats, running my fingers through Jordan's hair, and cheesecake. Definitely cheesecake. Also don't tell me you don't love putting on a brand new pair of socks... there's just nothing like it. Just like there's nothing like taking big, deep breaths as an ex-smoker -- you miss out on that when you smoke, and there's a certain kind of deepness and ultimate satisfaction that comes with being able to breathe that deeply. I'm so glad I quit.
Day 29: "What I Finished This Week." I pre-emptively put 30 Days of Lists on there, despite having one more list to write, but no one said when "this week" officially began. ;) I also got a lot of organizing done, some blog posts written, a letter mailed, and a birthday successfully completed.
Day 30: "Lists To Make." I love that they ended it with a list of other lists to write. I'm keeping daily to-do lists (on my phone) but I'm carrying my moleskine with me for notes and lists and tasks and doodles and journaling.
I seriously, seriously loved this project. It was completely unpretentious and unintimidating... if you have a pen and piece of paper, you can participate. I used it as an excuse to play around with paper, but it absolutely doesn't have to be done that way! You bet your butt I'm doing it again come Spring.

Thanks!! :)
DeleteLove the crossword!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really liked the idea too, but I wish that one had come out a little better... what with the misspellings and blank spaces that shouldn't be blacked out and all. I should not try to get creatively risky while suffering a massive head cold. :x
DeleteUgg..."sunnies". Same goes with "selfie" when describing a self-portrait of oneself. I typed that out the other day and actually, physically shuddered. Wait...I hope you don't do that, cause, then, uh *facepalm indeed.
ReplyDeleteI like the "fave photos of yourself" one the best I think. But honestly, they are all awesome!
UGH WTF "SELFIE." The world must one day learn that not everything needs a dumb twee nickname. "Selfie" reminds me of "Alfie" which just reminds me of "Alf" and the little kid in me in turn trembles in fear and confusion.
